You could win a superb Carnaby HE2 rackmount EQ from Cranborne Audio, worth £2199$2199. Enter to win!
British brand Cranborne Audio first caught our attention with the Camden 500, a preamp module that offered high-end technical performance at a remarkably affordable price. That was soon followed up by a rackmount version, plus two innovative 500-series chassis with digital I/O and a range of super-useful analogue-over-Ethernet interfacing boxes.
But perhaps Cranborne’s most impressive innovation to date is their proprietary HarmonicEQ® technology. Billed as "the first new analogue audio circuit in 40 years", HarmonicEQ® might look like a normal equaliser, but rather than simply cutting or boosting at different frequencies, it generates musically tuned harmonics for each band, adding them to the original signal to create the impression of a boost, without necessarily increasing the overall level. (When cutting, the HarmonicEQ® lowers the level of the fundamental frequency of each band, while keeping the harmonics.)
It’s an ingenious bit of tech, and one we were hugely impressed by when we reviewed both its debut outing, the Carnaby 500 module, and the dual-channel, 2U rackmount Carnaby HE2.
The Prize
For this month’s exclusive SOS competition, we’ve teamed up with Cranborne Audio to offer you the chance to win a Carnaby HE2 of your very own. The HE2 offers three bands of HarmonicEQ® per channel, in addition to variable high- and low-pass filtering. It can operate in stereo, dual-mono and Mid-Sides modes, with dedicated M-S insert points allowing you to patch your own hardware into the sum and difference signals.
And as if that wasn’t enough, the HE2 can be remotely controlled from within your DAW via a plug-in. As well as taking care of presets, and instantly loading the right settings for each DAW project, the remote control is bidirectional and click‑free, so you can even use it for real-time automation.
