Boss RC-505 disobedient slave!

Postby The Dilettante » Tue Jun 02, 2020 4:34 pm

I need some expert advice on synchronising the Boss RC-505 please. I have it slaved to an MPC renaissance via MIDI and basically it all works fine except that the loop (seemingly randomly) drops out after a number of cycles. This could be one cycle or six. It then flashes for the length of one cycle before restarting. The behaviour of the 505 gets stranger to understand the more channels of loops I add.

I have the tempo synch switched off to get rid of the nasty time stretching artefacts but the loop synch is still on. When off the looper goes out of time with the MPC.!!

Any suggestions or pointers would be really gladly received.

The RC-505 is a better master than a slave - I've found this out for myself.

You also have to make sure that you fully understand the RC's options - the track-by-track loop, sync and tempo options are quite complex. Check what you are asking the RC to do.

I haven't had such weird problems as you are describing. I wonder if you have some MIDI remote commands set in your RC and the MPC is sending some data that is corresponding with those commands?
