Free: Resonance Piano inspired by Nils Frahm

Postby SampleScience » Tue Apr 07, 2020 11:09 pm

I've just released a new free piano "rompler" called Resonance. It's the result of a sound design project where I wanted to create a new piano sound out of acoustic piano transients samples and a physical model of the body resonance of a piano. The result is "Resonance":

The plugin is available as a VST/VST3/AU plugin for Windows and macOS (High-Sierra and Mojave only). You can download it directly (no email required) or make a donation. It's a 233 MB download, 676 MB uncompressed.

That's a nice sounding instrument you've created there (to my ears at least).

Yes, I enjoyed it too, but was rather expecting a more 'intimate' sound, as Nils Frahm often tends to play very quietly, with felt-damped strings, making the pedal noises part of the performance.

(I seem to recall that he originally modified his piano to be significantly quieter, to avoid annoying the neighbours when playing late at night).
