Hi,

The fix came in Windows 7 SP1. If you look for that on Microsoft.com you will find a link to a list of changes. In there is a fix for usb dying after 1 hour.

Strangely, my problem has just started again. My usb speed drops from usb2.0 to usb1.1. I think it's my external Toshiba hard drive.

I suspect I had 2 problems all along and the service pack only solved one of them. I'm going to try with a different external drive and if that doesn't have a problem I'm going kiss goodbye to the Toshiba.

BTW just noticed something.... is this a USB powered drive? if so sometimes the USB cable does not supply enough power and you need to have one of those cables that has two USB plugs
