Well... I spent a couple of hours playing the Gretch yesterday & it’s doing what I hoped it would. Got it sitting on my high backed chair in the studio... total eye candy.

That seems to be a great solution for you. I love the Gretsch Electromatics, and they certainly are lookers. Hope you have many happy years with it.

Picked it up after it had been fettled by Chris Newman, He really went to town on it, including pinning the bridge, fitting bleed caps, putting extra pads on to level the Bigsby and it now plays like a dream and sounds great.

Just need to sort out a case although I have been lent a roksak temporarily...

One rather odd thing - it is forcing me to play strange alien things like major sevenths, sixths, ninths and even the odd 13th. Not doing my rockandroll cred a lot of good.

Twang.

Heh... funnily enough I started out playing Dixieland jazz in a kiddie band at the age of ten. Full circle maybe.

P.S. The gretsch is really nice to play since it got Luthierised.

And finally. First proper "Skivin` Ivan & the Slackers" gig with the Gretsch last night, through my lovely little H&K Statesman and it was bloody excellent. Does everything I hoped it would, apart from get rid of my arthritis in both hands! A Good Time was had by all & I cant wait for the next one.
