I think that might depend on who's answering the question... ;)

Love the grain. What wood is that? And what finish?

The wood is from the tree that used to be in the garden, i have no idea what it was i'm afraid.
The finish is some TruOil I had left over from my last guitar project a couple of years ago.

Hmmm. There could be a number of reasons behind that, which variant do you favour? ;)

about 20 years ago I had a band with #2 son on bass and a mate on drums which named "The Time Trousers" (as I mentioned elsewhere it was as a homage to the ISIRTA radio show) so calling the studio the 'Time Machine" seemed to make sense at the time.

As DIY projects go, overall you've knocked this one out the park Drew.

I've been promising my wife for ages that I'll carve a sign for the (art) studio I built for her at the bottom of our garden 3 or 4 years ago and having seen the sign you made I think it's probably about time I got out the carving kit and cracked on with it ;)

Taking 5 minutes out from work for a coffee this morning: https://youtu.be/8KtbKvGNmLU
You wouldn't think we live near a busy road and between two train lines... :)

Lovely. I have to say that this is one aspect of these trying times that really takes the edge off it for me. I'm going to be quite sad when all the noise comes back!

Also, what an incredible transformation from the pic you posted before you started

Even the trees seem to have grown up around the new studio, making it look as if it's been there for years! :o

As it is in the digital world, it is in the analogue world. You manage to remove 1 source of noise like traffic and now the birds are too bloody loud! How can anybody record with all that tweety noise?

Yep, the bad news is that I think the RH acer has died, but it'll be a while before we're heading out to any garden stores so it's got plenty of time to come good.

There are aspects of the office that I miss (mostly the interaction and ability to work with people on something) but I really don't miss the commute, and being able to just step out into the back yard like this for a few minutes does do wonders for your mental health. :)
