Attendees taking part in Abbey Road Institute's four-day Song Production Masterclass in late August will be guided through a full recording and production session from tracking to mastering by award-winning producer Haydn Bendall, for many years the studios' senior engineer.
The first two days of the masterclass sessions will involve setting up mics and recording a new song by indie rockers The Kings Parade in the renowned Studio 3, including working with string arranger and conductor Audrey Riley and classical percussionist Lauren Kosty on a string overdub session. Day 3 will cover track mixing in the Studio 3 control room, while Day 4 is reserved for mastering with Abbey Road engineer Christian Wright. Class attendees will also meet Abbey Road's resident microphone expert Lester Smith (the subject, of course, of a recent SOS video feature) and will be introduced to the studios' priceless microphone collection.
The masterclass runs from Thursday, August 29th, 2019, to Sunday September 1st, and each of the 15 available places costs £2750. But keep an eye on SOS's social media channels over the next few weeks for an opportunity to win a place on the course for a whole lot less!
