Dutch remixer, producer, film composer and multi-instrumentalist Junkie XL, also known as Tom Holkenborg, is releasing his first scoring sample library with established providers Orchestral Tools. Over the last few years, Holkenborg has established a successful film-scoring career for directors including Peter Jackson and James Cameron, and is now drawing on that experience to create the first in what will undoubtedly become a series of scoring library tools.

Holkenborg's debut sample library release, recorded at Teldex Studios in Berlin, focuses on brass and contains 690GB of sampled ensemble and solo trumpets, ensemble and solo horns, trombones, bass trombones, cimbassi and a tuba, all painstakingly captured at dynamics ranging from pianissimo to fortissimo and in a variety of articulations and section sizes. A total of 16 different mic positions are available via the library, which is accessed in Orchestral Tools' new Sine sample-playback instrument for Mac or Windows, supplied as part of the library.

The library, called simply Junkie XL Brass, can be ordered now and will ship in mid-December. It costs €898.80 including UK VAT$825, but can be ordered at present for €598.80$550.
