10.5V PSU query

Hi all,

I think this has sort of been answered before back in topic '10.5 volt power supply. Ummm...how?' started by Seaforth however i just want to make sure i am on the right track before i 'fry' something.

A good friend has given me a Quasimidi Rave O Lution 309 that was missing its original PSU. The input voltage was 10.5v (1.5amp). The same as Seaforth with his Quasimidi Polymorph trying to find a PSU with that rating is impossible.

Now i do have a 12v (1.5amp) PSU with correct polarity, any thoughts on whether this would be safe or not?

Looking at the manual here: https://www.quasimidi.eu/index.php?option=com_jdownloads&Itemid=39&task=finish&cid=71&catid=1

...it states
quasimidi wrote:Take the included power supply out of the box. Plug the smaller coaxial plug into the jack on the rear of the 309 marked "10.5VDC/1.5A" (US: "12VDC/2A"). Plug the other end into a standard 230VAC (US: 120VAC) wall outlet.

So the question is, did they simply supply a different, third-party 12V PSU in the American market (possibly just because of getting the right FCC approvals), or did they actually fit different internal power rail components in the unit for the US market...

I suspect the former is the case, and that it will be absolutely fine with a 12V DC supply --provided it really is DC and wired with the right polarity and of sufficient amperage.

But as always... Caveat emptor...
