Soundcraft SiExpression mix bus stereo recording

Postby bill_505 » Thu Feb 21, 2019 3:30 pm

I'm using the SiExpression mixboard in the theater i'm working and i want to record the show in stereo because i also use playback audio. I took two output mix buses (mix 1, mix 2), i connected them to my two inputs of my presonus sound board, i panned them left-right, but i still record in mono. Of course i use stereo track in garage band. What i'm i doing wrong?

Have you made sure that you really are sending stereo out across the Soundcraft Mix1/2 buses?

Can you test it with something really obvious like only L channel then only R on the send? If you get a dual mono recording with either of those scenarios, then somethng's gone wrong with the patching.

Without referencing the desk or manual (therefore buyer beware) the easiest way to do this is select the main output fader and then select outputs in the menu and the assign the duplicate outputs option to two Mix outputs (1&2 if you prefer, though I’ll often have those assigned to monitors).

This will give you a second set of Left and Right outputs.

Or you can use a Matrix and route that to any available pair of outputs.

You mean i choose the main LR fader from the menu and i patch the "Patch 02" to mix 1 and mix 2 if i understand?

If i take the outputs of my stereo channel, the result is to record in dual mono. I have to patch my stereo input in two mono channels, pan them L and R and then i record in stereo. What i don't get is, why from the stereo channel i don't get a stereo recording? Is there something else i have to do with my outputs mix 1 and mix 2?

Thank you for your answers.

I've edited this to remove a suggestion which, on reflection,, was not relevant.
