Analog/digital Mixer with built-in bluetooth, recorder and multi-track USB?

Postby baosanconan » Wed Feb 27, 2019 12:24 am

Hi all,

I've been reading a lot on here but never posted any question, so here it is. My band performs karaoke (2 mics, streaming beat via bluetooth from ipad) and sometimes acoustic shows (2 mics, 1 acoustic guitar, 1 keyboard, 1 cajon). I am in the look a perfect (even there is no such thing, though) digital/analog mixer that:

- Has at least 12 inputs.
- Has on-board FX.
- Has built-in bluetooth input (for phone or tablet playblack).
- Has built-in multi-track/stereo recording to SD card or USB drive.
- Has multi-track recording to DAW via USB (or firewire).

And I narrowed my list down to:
- Presonus Studiolive AR12/16
- Tascam Model 24

Dilemmas:
- Presonus Studiolive AR12/22: ordered 2, returned both, had issue with faders cracking/popping noise and SD card recorder makes repeated popping noise.
- Tascam Model 24: TOO big and has way more inputs than I need, wish they had a Model 12 or 16.

I know I would have a lot more options(Zoom Livetrak L-12, Behringer UFX1204, Mackie Onyx 1220i) if I buy a separated bluetooth module but I would love to have a built-in one as I use this function a lot.

Any comments are appreciated, thank you!

Your requirement for bluetooth makes this tricky...

I'd go for a Livetrak-12 and get an add-on bluetooth I think.

IME Bluetooth becomes unreliable well within the range of a half-decent and conveniently carried cable...

I wouldn't be using Bluetooth - I'd be happy with just a standard audio cable between the mixer and the ipad/phone. Bluetooth is very whizzy, but I like things simple. It has a slight lag due to latency (which may or may not be noticeable) and older versions often use lossy compression codecs which might be ok to listen to on a train with earbuds, but will be more noticeable over a PA.

So I'd say : ditch the bluetooth part, grab a standard splitter lead and just go for the Zoom Livetrack-L12 that Mike recommended. Very cool solution. Cheap too.

Greets bscn,

Give the Soundcraft UI Series a good look:

https://www.soundcraft.com/en/product_families/ui-series

Specifically the vastly improved UI 24.
Very cost effective solution.
