Or else travel on an airline that allows you to book a seat or ensures cabin space for it.

If you are going to be flying regularly with the instrument I would suggest the best travel case you can find.

If this is just to get it safely home I would suggest a regular case secured inside a shipping carton, easily obtained from any music store, and pack it as if you were shipping via courier.
