Re: the latest Behringer-gate
There is now this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLfccwuV1Xw
But we don't have a clue yet what it is, so it might be a synth or it might be X32 related, but it's supposedly 30 years in the making (30 years being how long Behringer has been in business)

Adding a letter at a time. W then I. Maybe Behringer are doing their own 'version' of Windows? :D
Or maybe it's just a 'wind-up'.

I really hope this is a workstation with 512k of RAM and a 24-character LCD/3-button interface. With a multisampled bassoon and house piano.
Oooh and an electric guitar expansion card.

At the time of posting Thomann now have both the Crave and Pro-1 in stock, though I guess not for long.

Just checked, they're saying 1-2 weeks. That was quick.

Re: the latest Behringer-gate
The first of the new 'W' teasers is intriguing. This is the best image I could get from the video ... looks to me like the back of something synth-like but there's not a lot to go on. I too wondered if 'W' stands for 'Workstation' but there's no connectivity present that I can see. Maybe it's more of an Interface of some kind.
I like what they're doing generally these days with the teasers ... though hopefully they won't drag it out too long!

I have a Crave on order, but I haven't had any news of dispatch as yet.
I tend to think that Behringer are teasing some kind of touch-screen mixer, but it's as intriguing as it is bloomin' irritating!

I nearly succumbed but as I already have a Moog Mother-32 I can't see it as anything other than a pure GAS purchase and I'm really getting better at that these days!

TBH I've got it as a third oscillator for my Pro-One. It will live most of its life with its output plugged into my Pro-One's audio input. It seems a pretty good price for an additional oscillator upgrade to an 80s synth!Eddy Deegan wrote:I nearly succumbed but as I already have a Moog Mother-32 I can't see it as anything other than a pure GAS purchase and I'm really getting better at that these days! The Elf wrote:I have a Crave on order, but I haven't had any news of dispatch as yet.
I've really no interest at all in its sequencer - I never use on-board sequencers.

Re: the latest Behringer-gate
My first thought was some kind of DAW/MIDI/Synth controller.
However, it's possible it's synth related at this seems to be Uli's favourite project at the moment. 30 years in the making? What was around in 1989 that might be "re-invented"...
Behringer's first products didn't appear until 1990, and these were analog rack processors (Exciter, Gate, De-noiser etc, see SOS July 1990).
Maybe it's just something that they always wanted to make from the beginning, and have finally gotten around to..?

I need to stop paying attention to you. You're making me weaker!

... that's definitely happening :-)

I used to use a Werkstatt as a 3rd VCO for a Little Phatty (via a Kenton MIDI-CV, so slightly awkward but it worked). Also made a little white noise box as the LP lacked audio noise itself. Good fun bodging these things together :)

If I didn't have an original I'd be all over that thing.Eddy Deegan wrote:I need to stop paying attention to you. You're making me weaker! The Elf wrote:TBH I've got it as a third oscillator for my Pro-One.

I'm considering the idea of a small rack with a couple of Model Ds and Pro-Ones in it that means my originals need never again leave the studio.
What times we live in...
