Platinum Samples Glamouflage Quickpack

Three flavours of Pork Pie
Platinum Samples have released a new Quickpack for Fxpansion’s BFD virtual drummer software, which features the same Pork Pie ‘Glamouflage’ kit used in their Joe Barresi Evil Drums library.

The original, ‘clean’ samples from Evil Drums don’t exist in this new library; instead, Barresi processed the samples in three different ways, to give the user greater flexibility at the mixing stage. He processed the whole kit using his normal mix chain and effects, and also processed the kick and snare drums using his vintage Helios console. Platinum Samples say that, because there is no duplication of material from the original Evil Drums pack, the new Quickpack is a perfect compliment to Evil Drums.

Alongside the audio content, there’s a library of over 1200 grooves played by Pat Wilson and Matt Shapiro which should enable users to create drum tracks with minimum fuss. And, usefully, there are four installation options, which allow the user to choose how much (or little) of the content is installed on their machine.

The Quickpack costs $90 (just under £50 at the time of writing) and can be purchased from the Platinum Samples web site. You’ll need BFD version 1.5 or above to run the library and, if you want to install all the content, 19GB of hard drive space.
