Win! ALLEN & HEATH Qu‑6 digital mixer

This month we are giving away a superb Allen & Heath Qu-6 digital mixer, a prize worth £2280$2995!

Allen & Heath have their audio roots in London in the early 1970s, where they built custom live‑sound mixers for the likes of Maurice Gibb of the Bee Gees and Alan Price of the Animals. The company pioneered the concept of modular consoles, with early models like the Mod‑3 and the MiniMixer, before building the world’s first quadraphonic console, the Mod 1, for Pink Floyd.

The company later moved their HQ to Penryn, Cornwall, and spent many years developing digital mixing technology, but they never lost the sense of innovation that earned them their reputation. Today, they are one of the most highly regarded names in studio, live‑sound and DJ mixers.

The Prize

For this month’s exclusive SOS competition, we’ve teamed up with Allen & Heath to offer you the chance to win one of their very latest models, the Qu‑6. Building on their established Qu technology, the newly rebooted Qu range boasts up to 38 inputs to mix, a dozen mix outputs (not including the stereo L‑R mix), four matrix mixes, six stereo effects engines with dedicated returns, upgraded A-D/D-A converters that can run at up to 96kHz, a powerful FPGA running at 96kHz to handle all your signal‑processing needs, plus the ability to host A&H’s DEEP plug‑ins and even the RackExtra FX from the company’s award‑winning dLive consoles.

The Qu‑6 features 25 premium motorised faders, and can be used on its own for even large‑scale shows thanks to its generous supply of local analogue I/O: 24 mic/line preamps, two stereo line inputs, 16 XLR outs and two TRS jack line outputs. There’s also a dedicated talkback mic input.

As you’d expect from Allen & Heath, digital connectivity is also plentiful. In addition to the stereo AES3 output, there’s an SLink Ethernet port, allowing you to hook the Qu‑6 up to any of Allen & Heath’s extensive range of digital interfaces, stageboxes and personal monitor mixing units.

But the Qu-6 is more than just a live‑sound console: with its built‑in 32‑in/32‑out USB‑C audio interface, it could easily serve as the heart of any recording studio. It can even record without a computer, capturing up to 32 channels direct to SD card (ideal for virtual soundchecks), while a USB‑A port allows you to quickly capture a stereo recording of the main mix.
