First announced in 2019, Expressive E’s original Osmose synthesizer and controller married the familiarity of a keyboard with the expressive possibilities of MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE). It took a while to come to market, but when we reviewed it in SOS April 2023 we hailed it as a “unique, surprisingly versatile and hugely inspiring” instrument, which both sounded superb on its own and worked as an excellent controller for MPE‑compatible software and hardware instruments too.
