Atlas uses AI to collate your drum samples

Locate, visualise and audition all of your drum samples

Algonaut, a new music software company based in New Zealand, have launched a new software sampler powered by Artificial Intelligence that locates all of the drum samples on your computer. It then puts them all in a single visual map to explore.

Once the files have been located, the map groups together sounds that are similar — kicks, snares, hi-hats etc and lets you sequence and audition them easily. Atlas can replace your current browser and lets you drag and drop your samples and MIDI sequences into any DAW.

You can teach Atlas what kind of sounds you like by ‘liking’ and ‘disliking’ samples, Facebook style. And, if you’re feeling uninspired, you can randomise. With a single click, Atlas with choose eight samples that can then be swapped out on the fly or tweaked.

What’s also interesting about this software is that the analysis goes on locally rather than in the cloud, and you can create separate maps based on genre, brand or style.

The AI tech behind Atlas is called SoundClass and is a proprietary AI that has been created using neural networks, deep learning and audio analysis techniques

Atlas comes with pre-loaded samples from Sample Magic and you can try it for 14 days for free. It’s currently being sold on introductory pricing for $99 with a regular price of $149.
