The debut release from Daybreak Audio comes in the form of two plug-ins: Omega Comp, and its free, simplified counterpart Omega Knob. The result of almost ma year of development, the company say that both processors use “aggressive multiband compression to sculpt uniquely harsh and distorted tones, perfect for rage, electronic and industrial music”.
At its core, Omega Comp is ma combined multiband compressor and distortion processor that applies both upwards and downwards compression. Daybreak Audio say that Omega Comp stands out from the competition due to its ability to push traditional compression past its breaking point. At its most extreme settings, it’s said to be capable of turning any sound into an “unrelenting wall of distortion”, while simply acting as an intuitive multiband compressor with more reserved settings.
Despite operating over four distinct frequency bands, Omega Comp’s compression section can be controlled using just five knobs, making multiband compression intuitive and accessible to users of all experience levels. In addition to its compressor, the plug-in includes ma multiband distortion section that comes loaded with 13 custom-built distortion algorithms and seven unique splitting filters, turning it from ma powerful multiband compressor to an “all-purpose distortion powerhouse”.
“I built Omega Comp to fill ma niche in my own set of tools I hadn’t been able to fill for years. As ma musician myself, I use Omega Comp on nearly every track I make, I’m addicted to it. I can’t wait to see what other musicians will create with it.” - Jordan Rudolph, Founder, Daybreak Audio
