Convertible acoustic treatment
Vicoustic have launched an intriguing new product in their acoustic panel range. Called the Vari Panel, it’s based on the company’s existing Flexi Panel 50 — a 60cm-square foam absorber — but it comes with a detatchable wooden panel that can be fitted to the front of the foam, to provide absorption and reflection all in one.
Special fixings enable the wooden panel, which has long, thin slots cut into it, to be removed from the foam backing in seconds, meaning a whole room can be converted from reverberant to ‘dead’ in a matter of minutes.
Vicoustic say that the Vari Panel will be suitable for a range of spaces: from concert halls to recording rooms. It will be shipping soon, although prices have yet to be confirmed. Visit the manufacturer’s web site for more information.
