Innovative valve processor gains new features
Freqport’s debut product, the Freqtube FT-1, pairs a desktop processing unit loaded with valve-based circuitry and A-D/D-A converters with a DAW plug-in, providing users with a convenient way to add some analogue saturation to their digital audio. We were impressed when we put it to the test in SOS February 2023 — you can check out our review here. The company have now announced a major software and firmware update that brings some new features to the table, as well as tackling a few known bugs and issues.
Key Features
The latest update introduces the following features, enhancements and fixes:
- Added AAX support for PC.
- Added auto-compensation feature (always on) for harmonics gain. The gain will be compensated for harmonics control between -40 and +40.
- Added Tilt feature to balance the signal between stereo valves.
- Added Auto Power Down function — valves will power down when Hub is closed.
- Drive parameter resolution increased from 1 to 0.5dB steps.
- Out level resolution increased from 1 to 0.5dB steps, and range changed from -24 to +12.
- Changed Hub behaviour — Hub always alive and will now auto-start on computer boot.
- Updated and added new presets.
- Windows installer optimised for easier experience.
- Updated UI scaling system.
- Fixed sample-accurate latency compensation issues that occurred in some DAWs.
- Firmware updated to 0.4.13.
- Updated USB drivers and improved USB firmware updates.
- Improved native bypass support for some DAWs.
- New "Checking USB status” in Hub when device is unplugged.
- Fixed an issue where the device would not connect when loading very large projects.
