The latest addition to The Very Loud Indeed Co.’s collection of Omnisphere sound packs has arrived, delivering 120 new patches inspired by the works of composers such as Trent Reznor and Hildur Guðnadóttir.
Omnisphere Gunk has been crafted exclusively from 138 new sound sources that were designed and recorded specifically for this release — no stock Omnisphere sounds are present, and it doesn’t share any content with the company’s existing line-up. The sounds contained in the pack are described as dirty, sticky and grimy-sounding, and are said to be an ideal solution for composers scoring genres such as dark drama, thriller and horror, while still being capable of adding some “fun quirkiness” to lighter styles. As with many of the company’s offerings, the collection makes extensive use of the mod wheel, with some patches capable of being seamlessly morphed between completely different sounds.
Compatibility
Omnisphere Gunk is compatible with Spectrasonics’ Omnisphere 2.8 or later, which is supported on PCs running Windows 7 and above, and Macs running macOS 11 or higher. VST2, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available. The sound set requires 198 MB of disk space.
Pricing & Availability
Omnisphere Gunk is available now, and is being offered at the introductory price of $19 until 26 September 2024, when it will increase to its full cost of $29.
