Melda Production have just celebrated their 15th anniversary, and are currently offering their MDynamicEq plug-in as a free download until 16 July 2023.
Described as the little brother of the company’s MAutoDynamicEq processor, the plug-in offers five bands of dynamic EQ that are each equipped with 15 different filter types. Peak, band-shelf, adjustable slope shelves, resonant shelves, band-pass and notch filters are all provided, and there are also dedicated high- and low-pass filters that are available independently of the main five bands. In addition to its equalisation capabilities, MDynamicEq features some built-in valve emulation, with Saturation and Analogue parameters allowing users to introduce some subtle harmonic enhancement along with their EQ.
A large central display provides a detailed visualisation of the processing being applied, and an automatic gain compensation feature balances the input and output levels to help prevent increased loudness influencing users’ decision making when auditioning their settings.
The plug-in also takes A/B comparisons a few steps further, providing users with eight slots labelled a to H which can each be loaded with their own independent settings. As well as switching between them for comparison, it is also possible to blend between the first four using an X/Y pad to find an ideal setting somewhere in between!
As well as being able to process mono and stereo signals, MDynamicEq is capable of operating in mid-side, up to eight-channel surround and up to seventh order (64-channel) ambisonics modes.

Compatibility
