Soyuz have announced the upcoming launch of a limited-edition mic based on a modified example of their 023 Bomblet. The 023 MALFA Delux will be subject to an extremely limited production run of just 20 units, although the company are making the capsule itself available separately both via their own website and through authorised dealers.
Named the 023 MALFA, the capsule promises to deliver a gentle presence lift along with some additional ‘air’ at the top end of its frequency response, along with slightly ‘leaner’ low mids. Despite the enhancements, it’s said to retain much of what made the original so popular, delivering a forgiving character that works particularly well on vocals and acoustic instruments. It can be fitted directly to the Soyuz 023 Bomblet or 017 TUBE/FET, resulting in a slightly brighter and more forward-sounding tonality.
