Spitfire Audio have today announced the release of Abbey Road Orchestra High Percussion. The launch marks the second release in the new series, which the company say is the most detailed range of sample libraries they have ever created. Up to 11 dynamic layers and 16 round robins are present, and a total of 391 articulations are on offer, which include discreet left and right hand performances.
Expanding on the selection of instruments provided in Abbey Road Orchestra Low Percussion, this latest offering contains 62 instruments that range from traditional orchestral staples to modern hybrid scoring essentials. To find out more about the debut instalment in the series, take a look at our in-depth review from the January 2023 issue of SOS (print / web / app / replica / PDF editions).
Aiming for ultmate playability, the company have included a number of performance-focused features to assist users in creating realistic parts, with each patch providing a two-handed keyboard layout with independent mapping of right and left hand hits, along with a Voice Choking feature which helps to ring roll articulations to a natural-sounding end. Plenty of playing variation is on offer thanks to a range of different stick and beater choices, and this versatility also extends to the mix stage, with the library boasting a total of 16 microphone signals.
