DP5 features six new virtual instruments
The latest version of MOTU’s Digital Performer DAW software, announced at the Winter NAMM show in January, is available now.
Digital Performer 5 features six new virtual instruments, including several synthesizers, a drum machine and a ‘mini-sampler’ (pictured below).
There are four new audio editing tools in the tool bar and a new window — Meter Bridge — allows the user to monitor levels of all signal paths in one place.
Tracks can now be organised into folders and sub-folders and the computer keyboard can be used to play MIDI notes into DP.
There are also a number of new music-for-picture features. Visual cues can be added to movie files and a ‘visual click’ can be superimposed on Quicktime movies.
Digital Performer 5 is available now costing £399. Current DP users can upgrade to version 5 from any previous version for around £145 including delivery. It's also possible to upgrade to DP5 from Audiodesk, which comes free with all MOTU audio interfaces, for £199. Contact UK distributors Musictrack for details.
