Less than a month on from the launch of the BiG [Studio], high-end hardware experts SPL have unveiled the latest addition to their ever-growing selection of studio gear. The Venos brings a new stereo compressor to the line-up, and aims to offer a helpful blend of new and old technologies.
The company say that while the Venos is based on the same designs as many vintage valve units, it boasts some more contemporary features that include the use of their proprietary 120V technology and a pair of hyper-compression modes. As you’d expect, no corners have been cut in the design, with SPL fine-tuning all of the unit’s parameters over countless listening sessions to ensure the best possible performance. All of the controls are presented on either stepped potentiometers or switches for accuracy and ease of recall, while joint controls for the left and right channels help to maintain a stable stereo image.
