Soyuz have built up a solid reputation in the microphone world, and currently offer a versatile selection of models along with some in-line boosters and a high-end preamp. Until now, all of their offerings have been capacitor mics, but their latest announcement introduces their very first dynamic model.
Designed to bridge the gap between stage and studio, the V1 is said to offer a combination of a naturally extended top end, balanced midrange and focused low end, resulting in a smooth and accurate character that sounds ‘right’ from the start; it also boasts a controlled proximity effect that avoids ‘muddy’ buildup when being used up close. As with all of the company’s products, the V1 has been developed entirely in-house by the Soyuz team. The mic is built around a custom transformer that retains detail while adding just a hint of ‘colour’, while the basket has been carefully designed to offer acoustical benefits as well as looking the part!
