Soyuz have announced the launch of a new mic bundle designed to help users capture a whole host of different instruments and performances. The Session Kit combines the company’s 1973 large-diaphragm capacitor mic with a pair of the more recently released 011 FET small-diaphragm mics, offering a handy solution to many live and studio tasks.
Said to be a powerful ‘workhorse’ mic, the 1973 employs Soyuz’s handmade S23 capsule, which has been designed to combine vintage sound character with modern performance. A custom resonator inside the mic’s body helps to reduce internal resonances as well as helping to combat plosives, while -10 and -20 dB pad settings mean the mic will withstand everything from quiet vocals to kick drums and loud amps.
The 011 FET, meanwhile, is a compact small-diaphragm capacitor built around another of the company’s own capsules, and promises to deliver a smooth sound that works well with any instrument and highlights the nuance of every performance. The mics are supplied with -10dB in-line pads, and boast a compact, lightweight design that makes them easy to position.
