Free workshops at Music Production Expo this weekend

Novation, NI, Yamaha & more running workshops at Emirates Stadium

Over the course of the two-day Music Production Expo, hosted at the Emirate Stadium in Holloway, London, there will be an assortment of seminars on a wide variety of topics. Expect product demos, career talks, mixing and mastering tips, songwriting workshops and much more. 

Highlights include a Novation session on Friday at 12.45 with London-based electronic trio Dark Sky (Monkeytown Records/Mister Saturday Night) who will be talking through their live setup, explaining how they take their show from studio to stage. Then, on Saturday (13.45) Novation will be demonstrating the Launch range and its integrated functionality with Ableton Live. In the second half of the workshop, Chris will be talking you through synthesis using the Bass Station II, MiniNova and UltraNova, showcasing the limitless possibilities of sound design with these synths.

Native Instruments will be demonstrating their new Komplete Kontrol S keyboards, and will create a song using the Maschine groove production studio. Affinity Audio will also be delivering a session called Ribbon Microphone 101 looking at the history, technical fundamentals, and particular qualities of studio ribbon microphones.

ACM & Metropolis are presenting an opportunity to meet top music industry production engineers John Gallen (Queen, Motorhead) and Mazen Murad (Muse, The Rolling Stones) and discover some of their top hints and tips learnt over a combined 6 decades of mixing and mastering some of the worlds biggest hits. Then, ask them your production questions during a Q&A session.

There will also be sessions from Steinberg, Alchemea, Softube, Nektar Technologies, Yamaha, SE Electronics, the Musicians' Union, the Music Producers Guild, ACS, MusicTech and PointBlank.
