GameSoundCon, the largest professional conference for video game music and sound design, will be taking place at the Marriott Burbank Convention Center in Burbank, California, USA, on 29 & 30 October 2024. It is the most anticipated event in the industry, with last year’s attendance up by an impressive 53% compared to the previous year.
The event, which is now in its 15th year, will bring together over 120 speakers and panelists, including leading composers and audio industry professionals such as Wilbert Roget II, Austin Wintory, Mason Lieberman and Phil Kovats. Attendees will have the chance to network with likeminded composers, sound designers, dialogue specialists, researchers and educators, as well as taking part in a series of workshops and talks, along with special sessions organised by sponsors Audiokinetic (Wwise), Epic Games (Unreal Engine 5) and FMOD.
As with previous years, GameSoundCon is a hybrid event: attendees can go along in person, or join in remotely with an online-only ticket that provides real-time access to GameSoundCon sessions as well as offering live text chat and more. Since most sessions will be presented simultaneously, virtually all sessions will be posted for both in-person and online attendees to watch for up to a full year after the event has taken place.
In preparation for the event, GameSoundCon Founder and Executive Director, Brian Schmidt, has conducted an analysis of current game sound design job postings. The 2024 report, titled Landing a Job in Game Audio: Analysis of Game Sound Design Job Listings, has been published on the organisation’s website, aiming to provide a helpful insight into the desired salary ranges, tools, skill sets and experience levels needed to land employment in the game audio industry.
Until 14 September 2024, attendees can take advantage of the event’s Earlybird Pricing scheme, which offers significant savings on both in-person and online-only tickets. More information can be found on the GameSoundCon website.
