Stradivari Solo Violin 2 ships with Kontakt 2 Player
The latest update to Garritan's Stradivari Solo Violin software instrument (we reviewed version one in SOS August 2006 — click here) sees a new violin model to choose from, enhancements to the realism algorithms, and the inclusion of Native Intruments' Kontakt 2 Player.
The new 'lyrical' violin model, allows the user to choose an instrument with a 'fuller, sweeter and more dramatic tone', in addition to the 'classic' model, which is modelled on the famous Stradivarius violin. Improvements to the legato and sustain pizzicato features have been added, as well as more realistic note transitions.
Garritan Stradivari Solo Violin 2 is available now, and ships with Kontakt 2 Player, which removes the requirement for the user to own a full copy of Kontakt. SSV 2 will run as a stand-alone software instrument, or as a VST, Direct X, RTAS or Audio Units plug-in. It costs $199, but existing version one customers can upgrade for $29.
