It’s not often you get a chance to get feedback on your mixing chops from a professional mix engineer, but that’s exactly what long-time Mix Rescuer Mike Senior is offering, via new web site MixOff.org. MixOff was launched only around a month ago, and it’s a forum-based site that allows users to share multitrack audio files of their songs for others to try mixing. Completed mixes can then be re-uploaded to the site, for review and discussion by other MixOff members.
The site is currently holding their first competitive mix off, and is providing the multitracks for a song called ‘Blood To Bone’, by Young Griffo. Mike Senior will be the judge, and the entrant he considers to have produced the best mix of the track will win a copy of his new book, Mixing Secrets For The Small Studio.
But perhaps even more enticing is the fact that all mixes submitted by 4th April will be individually and personally critiqued by Mike himself! And with credits including releases by the Charlatans, Wet Wet Wet and Therapy, a critique from Mike really is a lesson in professional mixing.
To enter, simply follow the link below, where you’ll find a thread that contains all the details, including where to download the multitracks and how to upload your mix. Although the cut-off date for getting your mix reviewed is 4th April, the competition to win a copy of the book has a closing date of 11th April. Good luck, and happy mixing!
