Press Release: The Institute of Professional Sound (IPS) has announced it will hold its annual training weekend at the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield on 9th and 10th February.
This years’ event will be called “Radio Ga Ga” and will attempt to de-mystify the world of RF. Essential for anyone working in the world of sound, the weekend will cover basic RF theory, radio mics, IEM’s, radio communications/links and how they all fit together. Drawing on experience from the very best personnel from within the industry, sessions will debunk popular myths, explain best practice and allow an enormous wealth of experience to be disseminated.
Many sessions will be practical allowing delegates to handle equipment and take part in listening tests. Spectrum planning and the legal side of RF licensing will also be covered. The future will be discussed, looking into digital radio and large area diversity systems. Manufacturers are actively being encouraged to participate. Evaluation of differing analogue and digital systems will take place throughout the weekend. Conclusions will be discussed in a final question and answer session.
The price for IPS members is set at £180 for the weekend. Members of AMPS get a discounted rate of £216. Non members are also welcome at a rate of £300.Any non members who join the IPS at the time of booking will be able to attend at the members rate. A number of places are available at a subsidised rate for students, using a Trust fund established by the Institute.
