OOMPH plug-in from Schulz Audio

Designed to maximise punch, clarity & impact

Schulz Audio OOMPH dynamics enhancer exciter plug-in

The latest arrival in the Schulz Audio range is a powerful new dynamics plug-in that provides producers, engineers and musicians with some precise signal-shaping capabilities. Named OOMPH, the plug-in splits incoming audio into four frequency bands, and includes an array of controls designed to maximise the punch, clarity and impact of sounds within a mix.

OOMPH’s GUI is divided into five main sections, the first four of which are dedicated to its four frequency zones: Sub, Low, Mid and High — the crossover points can be defined by clicking and dragging a set of dividing lines in the plug-in’s visualiser display. Per-band Inflate and Curve controls offer control over the saturation applied to each band, while Pump and Release dials govern the behaviour of the band’s dynamics processing. A M/S (Mid-Side) control then provides control over stereo width, while a Level control determines the each band’s output level. The set of controls are then repeated in a Post module, which houses a slow-release limiter designed to add the finishing touches to the processed signal.

Key Features

  • Precision Signal Shaping: Four-band frequency splitting with intuitive controls allows users to target any area of their signal for pinpoint accurate processing.
  • Advanced Limiting: Features a look-ahead limiter with customisable Pump and Release controls designed to maintain dynamics and achieve optimal loudness.
  • Dynamic Saturation: Offers adjustable saturation parameters (Inflate, Curve, Clip) to add harmonic richness reminiscent of analogue equipment.
  • Stereo Width Expansion: Allows users to enhance stereo imaging with mono-to-stereo transitions, including Haas effect widening beyond 100%, while maintaining mono compatibility.
  • Comprehensive Metering: Includes input/output meters, LUFS monitoring, spectrum analysis and individual band limiter input/output and gain reduction meters.
  • Final Stage Mastering: a neutral-sounding final limiter with slow release and aliasing-free processing, providing up to 16x oversampling.

Compatibility

OOMPH is supported on Windows and macOS systems, and is available as a VST2, VST3, AU or AAX plug-in.

Pricing & Availability

OOMPH is available now, and is currently (16 June 2025) being offered at an introductory price of £99, reduced from its full cost of £149. Prices include VAT.
