Sonicware LIVEN Evoke compact desktop ambient synth

Following on from the success of their LIVEN Ambient Ø synth, Sonicware have announced the launch of their latest compact instrument. Described as a “nostalgia-evoking ambient music box”, the LIVEN Evoke has been built around a new Acoustronic Flux Oscillator engine that creates sounds using a blend of acoustic and electronic sources.

Sequencer & Effects

The LIVEN Evoke comes equipped with a four-track sequencer that’s capable of saving up to 128 patterns, each of which can contain up to 64 steps. It can be programmed on a step-by-step basis as well as capturing notes in real time, and even allows users to add notes ‘on the fly’ whilst the sequencer is running. Knob movements can be captured and played back thanks to a Parameter Lock function, and users can add some variation to their performances by taking advantage of Probability and Random Playback settings.

As for processing, the instrument includes Grain FX, a powerful granular-based effects system that slices and reconstructs audio, manipulating parameters such as grain shape, timing and spatial positioning to create new and interesting sounds. There are also 10 built-in reverbs that offer a range of different room emulations.
