On-line copyright service launched promises copyright protection
A new web site has been launched to help composers protect the copyright of their music and lyrics. provides an escrow service for songwriters (though they'll also cover literature and software source code), storing their material securely and providing an independent date stamp which could prove invaluable should any dispute over ownership arise.
CDs sent to are copied to a secure server, encrypted using a unique code and stored for a pre-arranged period.
Unlike some other on-line copyright sites which charge by the song, this site charges by the CD-ROM (650MB of data), though a variety of other delivery method and format options are also available. A five-year term for one CD-ROM costs £42, while a 10-year term costs £70.50.
