The latest version of Arturia’s flagship software synthesizer has just arrived, delivering an array of new features aimed at modern producers and sound designers. Pigments 7 promises to refine the instrument’s core experience thanks to a new audio-reactive Play Page, additional tone-shaping tools and a selection of general improvements and enhancements.
The headline feature of the update is the overhaul of the Play Page, which now boasts an audio-reactive interface that’s been designed to help users preview and understand a sound’s character using animations. The view also includes a set of quick-edit parameters that offer convenient access to a patch’s most important parameters. Sound designers will be pleased to see the introduction of three new filters — here’s what Arturia have to say about them:
- Rage: Feedback-fuelled distortion for powerful, driven textures.
- Ripple: Phase-based motion for fluid movement and character.
- Reverb: Timbre-thickening space and weight aimed at modern bass design.
There’s also a new FX Module named Corroder, which can be used to introduce some “controlled grit, from FM-tinged edges to filtered grain and wide distortion, while preserving the identity of the dry signal”. Other improvements include a tweak to the software’s default amplitude behaviour, which now exhibits smoother, S-shaped envelopes that reduce clicks and deliver cleaner, harder-hitting transients; Visual modulation range displays for easier editing; and optimised processing for more headroom in complex, layered, effects-heavy patches.
Finally, Pigments 7 comes loaded with 150 new presets, 50 wavetables, 30 samples and 20 noises, as well as new in-app, use-case sound design tutorials.
Compatibility
Pigments 7 is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or above, and Macs running macOS 11 and higher. VST, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
Pricing & Availability
Pigments 7 is available now, and will be priced at €99 until 7 January 2026. Existing users can update for free, and discounts are available for users of other Arturia software.
