The Midium sell signed Melbourne Instruments Nina

Family-run shop raises money for LA wildfire relief

The Midium, a family-run synth shop based in Southern California have announced that they are donating 55% of the profit from the sale of a collectable Melbourne Instruments Nina to the relief efforts that are supporting those affected by the recent wildfires in Los Angeles. The instrument forms part of The Midium’s Signature Edition Collection, and has been signed by Melbourne Instruments’ founders Ian Overliese, Connor Hansen and David Klopsteins.

To curate their Signature Edition Collection line-up, The Midium ask synth, effects unit and pedal manufacturers to sign their units for the artists purchasing them. Realising that many of the devices in question were becoming sought-after collectables, the company say they thought it offered a great way to make a donation that helped communities in need. Melbourne Instruments were happy to help, while their US distributor, Voltage & Company, volunteered to reduce the order cost so that the difference in price could be added to the donation.

“In Stevenson Ranch, we were lucky to be relatively safe from the fires, though we were prepared to evacuate as two fires approached the Santa Clarita area and we temporarily lost power. Folks in different parts of the County of Los Angeles, though, lost absolutely everything, and it is impossible to know what that must feel like. After learning more and more about the breadth of the devastation, we wanted to offer the community some help. The more folks can band together to get involved in relief efforts, the better.” - Cam Bitar, Owner, The Midium

“We deeply feel for the lives of all those in California who have been affected by the horrendous fires many residents have experienced recently, and Melbourne Instruments is pleased to be a small part of The Midium’s plan to donate to LA’s wildfire relief efforts.” - John Bauer, Director, Melbourne Instruments
