Eventide used the NAMM show to unveil the latest addition to their acclaimed range of guitar stompboxes. Space is a digital reverb — but not as we know it, presenting 12 algorithms that are new to the guitar universe. Derived from Eventide's flagship rackmount effects processors, the algorithms range from high-quality plate and spring emulations to more abstract, original patches with names such as 'Black Hole', 'MangledVerb' and 'DynaVerb'.
Reverb is combined with delay, pitch-shifting, tremolo, modulation and spatial effects to create a wide range of textures and effects, all of which are easily manipulated in real time using three footswitches and 10 knobs, plus MIDI and expression pedal inputs for those who want deeper control. One of the switches is a dediated Tap Tempo function, or where appropriate, the effects can be sync'ed to MIDI instead. Guitarists will also appreciate the unit's instant patch changes, rugged construction and true analogue bypass. Space can operate in mono or stereo, and can accept line-level sources as well as guitars, making it an ideal tool for the studio. We look forward to getting our hands (and feet) on it soon!
