Pair of character microphones
Mark Pirro is the man behind Placid Audio mics, but what you might not know is that he's also the bass player for Texan choral rock band The Polyphonic Spree. None of his mics are meant to be Neumann beaters, or even meant to top popular handheld designs — his designs are instead all about getting a lo-fi character. His first mic, the Copperphone, was made for the band's singer in a live setting. Now he's developed a pair of new mics that have a very different character, in the shape of the soon-to-be-released Resonator Series. At $260 apiece, they won't break the bank either. Watch the video above to find out more.
