Like Session Strings before them, Session Horns have had the 'Pro' treatment. According to NI, Session Horns Pro, created in partnership with E-instruments, offers 10 times the power, flexibility and detail of the original, and provides an enormous 30GB library of horn sounds, customisable horn sections of up to six instruments, and new intelligent play modes.
Among the available instruments are three saxophones, two trombones, three trumpets, a tuba and a flugelhorn. As well as layering each part into a horn section, each instrument can also be played solo. If you opt for the former, there are 38 section presets that provide common section types from popular music, making it easier to find the right sound, even if you're a beginner. There are also 34 articulations and true vibrato samples for improved authenticity.
The Animator features in Session Horns Pro has also been souped up to include over 200 riffs, and up to six phrases can be combined at a time. The Smart Voice Split feature identifies the correct instrument for each note and provides authentic horn arrangements without needing sophisticated knowledge of arrangement techniques, claim NI.
The mixer section has been revamped too, and offers greater control over the individual instruments, as well as master EQ, compression, tape saturation and a low-pass filter.
