Tegeler Vari Tube Compressor upgraded

New compressor bypass mode added

Tegeler Audio Manufaktur Vari Tube Compressor analogue outboard compressor saturation distortion mode

Tegeler Audio Manufaktur have announced the release of a new version of their Vari Tube Compressor which introduces a number of improvements over the previous design, as well as providing a new operation mode for those who wish to use the unit to impart some valve-based distortion to their signals.

The unit is easily the most “colourful” compressor in the company’s product range, a characteristic which has led some users to add some additional drive to their tracks whilst balancing the Input and Output controls to trigger the minimal amount of compression possible. Aware of this creative way to use the unit, but aware that it is perhaps not the easiest thing to set up, the company have now included a Color/Comp switch on each of the VTC’s channels. Setting the control to Color will route the incoming signal through the valves whilst bypassing the compressor section entirely, allowing the device to act purely as a saturation effect. Comp mode, meanwhile, will see it behave in exactly the same way as its predecessor.

In addition to the extra operation modes, Tegeler have also taken the opportunity to implement some circuitry enhancements, with perfectly matched capacitors helping to make the process of calibrating the left and right channels more precise and long-lasting. Some visual updates have also been made, with the device being the first in the company’s range to sport Tegeler’s brand new logo!

Pricing & Availability

The Vari Tube Compressor is available now, priced at €1999.
