VSL have just announced the launch of Fazioli F308 Essentials, a new, packed-down version of their library Synchron Fazioli F308 library, which captures one of the world’s largest grand piano models.
Based on their Synchron Fazioli F308, the latest addition to the company’s growing range of entry-level instruments is said to distills the full majesty of the premium collection Synchron Fazioli F308 into a focused instrument that’s ready to inspire users right out of the box. Although there are fewer velocity layers on offer compared to the premium library, the Essentials version promises to maintain the clarity, depth and colour that makes the original instrument so remarkable, with the acoustics of Stage a at VSL’s Synchron Stage A giving the library a rich and expansive character.
The Fazioli F308 is renowned for its powerful sound, something which is attributed to its extended string length, and also features a unique fourth pedal — an innovation that lowers the keyboard and brings the hammers closer to the strings, reducing the instrument’s volume without altering its timbre. This allows the same overtones and resonances to shine through with a soft, yet clear and transparent character.
Although it's a simpler affair than its fully featured sibling, the new Essentials version of Fazioli F308 still provides users with plenty of control.
Users are able to fine-tune their sound using the Synchron Piano Player software, which provides a selection of expertly crafted mixer presets — from intimate close settings to grand, ambient textures — along with a collection of built-in tools such as per-key EQ, resonance control, an algorithmic reverb, velocity response adjustments and more. Whether scoring for film, producing pop ballads or practicing piano etudes, VSL say that Fazioli F308 Essentials will deliver professional-grade quality and musical inspiration in a compact, efficient package.
Compatibility
Fazioli F308 Essentials is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or higher, and Macs running macOS 11 and above. VST, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
Pricing & Availability
Fazioli F308 Essentials is available now, and is currently (19 June 2025) being offered at an introductory price of $104€99, reduced from its full cost of $156€149. An upgrade path from the Essentials edition to the premium collection is available. To celebrate the release, VSL are offering their Concert D-274 Essentials library for its original introductory price — the offer will end on 14 July 2025.
