Recording gear manufacturer Locomotive Audio is offering a chance to win one of its 286A dual mic preamps by way of a mixing competition. The January-long promotion features a 'mini' song recorded with Locomotive Audio 286A preamps for all sound sources. Engineers may mix the 20 second track and submit their work by January 31st.
“We set out to write and record a piece that will allow people to hear the 286A in action. It is important that our preamp be featured throughout a full composition, where each individual sound source interacts with the next.” noted Eric Strouth, Founder of Locomotive Audio. “And creating a mixing competition with those sounds will help engage the listener a bit more than the usual website sound files. We are excited to hear the mix submissions.” Locomotive Audio will listen to all the mix submissions, then send its favourite five to members of the St. Louis Regional Audio Engineering Society for final judging. The winning mix will be announced on February 16th,
