SOUND ON SOUND
Built from a collection of recordings that captured bowed instruments from the North Caucasus, the sounds that make up Dark Veil have been crafted using a selection of pedals, amps and effects, with the developers blending multiple signal chains together in search of new and interesting tones.
Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 5/5 Stars. Refraction takes a multi‑mic recording of an upright piano, prepared using a very thin layer of felt, and then provides tools to process it.
Recorded during the sessions for the developer's Panorama Acoustic Kontakt library, Pure Nylon delivers the same warm tone and musical detail, but reimagined for Soundbox’s MPE-capable platform.
Refraction has been built using high-quality samples of a premium upright piano, but rather than aiming to recreate the acoustic instrument, it instead uses the recordings to craft an array of evolving pads and hybrid acoustic-electronic soundscapes.

Sonora Cinematic have released Aethervox, a new cinematic vocal instrument designed for Audiomodern’s free Soundbox sampler platform.
