Sonora Cinematic have officially launched Poiesis Cello 2, the follow-up to their acclaimed cello library. Now powered by the developer's custom-built Aria engine, the new version introduces an array of creative controls, features and presets that enhance the instrument’s expressiveness and versatility.
The first version of Poiesis Cello (reviewed in SOS April 2022) quickly became a favourite among musicians and sound designers for its rich timbres, unique dynamic textures and delicate performance nuances.
In the new version the Poiesis Cello library retains its original sample content, but now benefits from the powerful Aria engine, which was featured elsewhere in Sonora Cinematic's Aria Vocalscapes (reviewed in SOS June 2024) and Panorama Guitars (SOS October 2024). This upgrade unlocks new possibilities for sound creation, including the ability to crossfade or stack articulations, apply a wide range of effects from the extensive library, filter each layer independently and craft evolving soundscapes using an intuitive XY pad.
The update also introduces two distinct instruments: Poiesis Cello, which focuses on blending two articulations together for evolving, textural soundscapes, and the Poiesis Cello Articulation Keyswitch, a completely new key-switching system that allows users to organise articulations traditionally or trigger them via velocity.
With nearly 100 new presets, Poiesis Cello 2 provides users with many starting points for shaping sound, making it adaptable to various production needs and workflows. Poiesis Cello 2 works with the free Kontakt Player v7.7+.
