TK Audio’s latest Baxandall-inspired EQ promises to deliver the smooth and natural sound for which the 1950s circuitry is renowned, but with an extended set of functions that allow it to exceed what is expected from a such processor.
The TEQ is dual-channel, 1U rackmount unit that features independent controls for each channel, allowing it to operate in either stereo or dual-mono modes. It’s also kitted out with a built-in Mid-Side encoder/decoder that allows users to process in Mid-Sides as well as traditional left/right stereo. Each channel features two bands that each offer a choice of 10 frequencies and can be switched between peak and shelf filters; the cut/boost range offers 0.25dB steps up to 1dB, and then continues with 0.5dB steps up to 4dB — if users require a larger cuts and boosts, an Ex switch extends each band’s gain range up to ±8dB.There also 12dB/octave low- and high-pass filters that are shared across the two channels.
