Austrian Audio have announced the launch of a new pair of open-back headphones aimed primarily at home listening duties. Designed to bridge the gap between their Hi-X series and the flagship Composer reference headphones, The Arranger makes the company’s high-end technology available at a more affordable price.
The Arranger features an over-ear open-back design and has been developed with the aim of delivering a natural presentation with clear spatial placement. The headphones are built around a newly developed 44mm dynamic driver that has been designed and manufactured by Austrian Audio, which uses a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coated diaphragm for rigidity and control, alongside a proprietary ring magnet system. The design is said to deliver a fast transient response as well as benefitting from low distortion and consistent linearity across the frequency range, with bass extension reaching down to 5Hz, allowing low-frequency detail to be reproduced cleanly rather than boosted artificially.
Austrian Audio say that comfort and durability were key considerations in the development of The Arranger. The final design includes soft suede leatherette ear pads and a lightweight metal frame, while a foldable structure with robust metal hinges make storage and transport easier without compromising build quality. Despite the durability, The Arranger weighs in at just 310 grams, helping to ensure comfort and reduce fatigue during long listening sessions.
Equal attention has been paid to sustainability, with the company opting for user-replaceable parts for all key wear components, including the ear pads and headband. Like Austrian Audio’s other premium products, The Arranger is manufactured in Europe using carefully selected materials, with longevity firmly in mind.
As for connectivity. The Arranger uses a four-pin symmetrical socket that supports the supplied TRS cable as well as optional balanced cables, including 4.4mm Pentaconn and 5-pin XLR connections.
