Sonora Cinematic have announced the launch of the second release in their budget-friendly Select series. Available for Native Instruments’ Kontakt Player, Nocturne Electric Piano preserves the soul of a beloved electric piano that tragically caught fire after a brief but inspiring life in the company’s studio.
Determined to bring the instrument in question back to life, the Sonora Cinematic team found a studio with a similar model and were able to sample it in incredible detail. Being a part of the newly introduced Select series, Nocturne Electric Piano features a simple and intuitive GUI while providing users with a useful collection of fine-tuning tools. Four distinct signals have been captured, and users have control over the level of each thanks to a built-in mixer. A DI output captures a clean signal while a Guitar Amp option offers some additional warmth and character, while a Mechanical Noise signal captures the sound of the instrument’s keys and tines and a Tape Echo Reverb provides a mono, vintage-style tape delay effect.
There’s also a Double Track switch that creates a stereo effect by using different round-robin samples for the left and right channels, along with some of Sonora Cinematic’s signature atmospheric effects: White, a lush-sounding stereo reverb; Blue, a diffused ambience with a huge tail; and Pink, a slowly modulated reverb that utilises granular-like processing. All three effects have been tweaked specifically for Nocturne Electric Piano’s content, and the library comes loaded with a diverse range of factory presets.
Compatibility
Nocturne Electric Piano runs in Native Instruments’ free Kontakt Player (or the full version of Kontakt) versions 8.1 or higher, which are supported on PCs running Windows 10 or above, and Macs running macOS 11 and higher. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available, along with a standalone application.

Nocturne Electric Piano is available now, and is being offered at an introductory price of £34.80 until 9 June 2025, when it will increase to its full cost of £46.80. Prices include VAT.
