The Founder’s Locker is a new series of instruments from Sonora Cinematic that will each begin life in a different way to the company’s usual products. Rather than starting off with an idea or carrying out market research, the company will instead simply experiment with sounds, and set about turning them into a library if they turn out to be interesting and worthwhile!
The first instalment in the series comes in the form of The Founder’s Locker: Dark Veil, and it’s been designed for Audiomodern’s free MPE-capable Soundbox sampler rather than Kontakt. Built from a collection of recordings that captured bowed instruments from the North Caucasus, the included sounds have been crafted using a selection of pedals, amps and effects, with the developers blending multiple signal chains together in search of new and interesting tones.
Many of the patches take full advantage of Soundbox’s MPE capabilities, but also comes with Modwheel variants that have the appropriate parameters mapped to the mod wheel, providing some additional expressive performance abilities to without MPE controllers.

The Founder’s Locker: Dark Veil requires Audiomodern Soundbox v1.1.1 or later, which is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or above, and Macs running macOS 10.14 and higher. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
